The Little Things

May 24, 2011.
Sundaes: We hit the ground running on the Tuesday after the long weekend.  We were racing through dinner in order to get Charlie to his spring concert, and Josh picked up from his field trip to Canada's Wonderland.  Dinner ended up being a smorgasbord of fruit and veggies, pantry finds and a quick mac and cheese.  After the concert and once the whole family was together we decided to treat ourselves to McDonald's sundaes. But for me, the treat wasn't the hot fudge.  The treat ended up being an opportunity to sit together and share the best parts of our day.  And just to brag a little: Josh rode his first roller coaster (in the front seat!), didn't get lost, and won his brother a stuffed dino at the claw machine.  Charlie was (in my humble opinion) the best "Snobby Pear" on the stage.  Well done boys.

Wheels in Wheels:  I spent some time spring cleaning the trailer on Wednesday.  The Little Man brought his Hot Wheels in and chatted me ear off, keeping me company.  After the cleaning was finished I laid down on the mattress and played cars with my son.  After a while, I closed my eyes, dozed and daydreamed about this summers camping trips.  What a great way to spend the afternoon.

Fallen Grace:  I went for a quick photo walk around my hood, looking for the beauty of a  wet spring day.  I captured some beautiful images of rain glistening on fresh spring blossoms. But, for some reason it wasn't the obvious beauty I was drawn to. On this day, it was this pink sidewalk that spoke to me the most.  For me, the  blossoms were a  pop of colour on a dreary morning, in an unexpected place.  And they made me smile. I guess on this day, what I needed to "see" wasn't the obvious.  What I needed was the reminder that beauty can be found - even after it has fallen.
